"We're in room seven," Janet tells Cassie as they climb the stairs. "It's a bit small, but atleast it's comfortable."

She unlocks the door and enters.

Sam hears people approaching, and voices, but she's playing with a new technological thing that no one would understand and please don't ask her to explain it to you or your head will start to hurt when she hears the door open. She raises her head towards the door and grins when she sees the two figures enter.
"You're back!

So, Cassie, how do you like Milliways?"

Cassie grins back at Sam.
"Mom showed me the window."

And apparently between a major league brain and a minor league brain, this is all that needs to be said.

"Ah yes, the infamous window!" Janet grins at the both of them.

"Would you like a tour?" she asks Cassie.

It will be a very quick tour but she asks anyway.

Cassie raises an eyebrow slightly and tries to hide her grin. Unless Milliways is equipt with much more advanced technology than she thought, she could pretty much see everything. But she remembers that humoring the mother is important.

Janet was enjoying Cassie being here so much that she got some of her sense of humor back.

"Well, this is the bedroom," her voice is playful, she knows Cassie can already see everything. "And that's the bathroom."

She cracks a grin. "So that leaves us with finding you a place to sleep!"

Cassie can't hide her grin as Janet gives her 'the tour.' But her expression sobers with the mention of a place to sleep.

"I'll sleep on the floor, of course."

Sam is quick to interrupt.

"Cassie, you are not sleeping on the floor."
Short, to the point. Hopefully authoritative.

From: [identity profile]
"Definitely not," Janet agrees. "You need a bed, something comfortable. We'll find one for you."

There was no way Cassie was going to sleep on the floor.

Sam responds to Janet, completly ignoring Cassie.

"We could probably get Bar to make our room a Suite, especially if we explained the situation."

Date: 2006-04-08 04:10 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile]
"I didn't think of think that," she pauses for a moment.

"That would work the best. Then we wouldn't have to bother with moving to a different room."

Almost pleading now, she looks from one to the other. "Mom, really, I'll be - Sam? Please?"

Turning to Cassie for a moment with Stern Authorative Voice, "Cassie, you are not sleeping on the floor. We're not going to let it happen. We have gotten too used to taking care of you."

Then her voice softens a bit.
"I know you have tried to fade into the background the past few years, and you have made it a habit of not accepting anything from anyone, but let us spoil you a little."

She turns back to Janet.
"Do you think we should take care of it now or later?"

Date: 2006-04-08 05:57 am (UTC)

Janet nods. "Sam's right. There's no reason for you to be sleeping on the floor anyway. You need a real place to sleep."

There is a 'and that's final' tone to her voice and she turns to Sam.

"Now, I think, might as well," Janet shrugs. "Hopefully it will work."

Sam nods.

"Okay, do you want to come downstairs and talk to Bar?"

Janet smiles at both of them. "Sure, let's go."

She leads the way out the door.

Sam and Cassie follow Janet down the stairs. Once they reach Bar Sam steps up and places a hand on her. "Bar, we were wondering if you could change the size of room seven. It was just Janet and me living there, but now Cassie has come to Milliways and we want her to live with us. Could you add space for her?"

There is a long pause. Cassie manages to look fasinated by Bar and yet uncomfortable by the situation.

Finally a slip of paper appears.
Adjustment made.

"Perfect!" Janet says, reading the paper that just appeared.

"Let's check it out shall we?" she grins in excitement.

Cassie nods, looking back at Bar intrigued, and follows Sam and Janet upstairs.

Sam opens the door and stares.

"Oh my. certainly is bigger."

Janet is silent for a moment, then she turns to Sam.

"We should have gotten a bigger room sooner," she says with a grin.

Instead of a single room, there are now three separate bedrooms ( and a center living space with things to sit on!

Janet turns to Cassie. "What do you think?"

From: [identity profile]
Cassie is trying to hide the fact that she loves the new arrangement. You know, since she fought it and all.
She's not suceeding very well.

"So which room is mine??"
...well that came out more cheary and eager than she wanted.

Sam steps in and looks around.

"Bathroom and everything. Bar outdid herself.

Right. Bedroooms."
She looks into them.
"Well, Janet and my things seem to be in the bedrooms where our beds were located before. The same side of the room, anyway. So, that leaves you with the new bedroom in the front!"
She smiles at Cassie.

Janet goes to check out Cassie's room. She peers around the doorframe.

"Look at the walls!" she turns to Cassie with huge smile. "Periwinkle and yellow. I wonder how bar knew?"

Date: 2006-04-09 06:29 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile]
Sam shrugs.

"Apparently Bar does this type thing all the time."

Cassie goes over to her bed and sits down. She picks up a pillow.
Awed, "They're stars."

Sam reaches over to the bedside table and turns on the moon shaped lamp. On a whim, she says to Janet "turn off the lights."

From: [identity profile]
"Where..." Janet begins but then she remembers the ones that Cassie had on her ceiling at home. She flips the light switch off and the faint glow of yellow stars and planets appear above them.

"Now I'm getting homesick again," she comments, but it's a nostalgic sort of comment, not really all that sad anymore.

Date: 2006-04-09 06:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile]
Cassie stares at the ceiling. These glow planets are so much better any she ever had.
She reaches over and turns off the light beside her and even more stars appear, creaping down the walls all around them.

Sam leans over and says quietly to Janet, She took all the plastic ones down after you died. Actually, a good number of things have been in storage or at my house. She said they reminded her too much.

I didn't want to tell you...before.
She's had a really rough time."

Janet is quiet for a moment, watching Cassie and the look of contentment on her face.

She replies softly, "I'm glad she's here, Sam. So much. It wasn't right that we had to be separated so soon."

Cassie is..slowly..

trying not to...

It has been a very emotional day, traveling to another galaxy and finding the mother and now in a dark comfy room feeling safer than she's felt in years?

Yeah. She's sleepin'.

From: [identity profile]
"I'm glad she is too, for you and her sakes. This is better than I've seen her in...well. A Long Time.

Noticing the sleeping subject of conversation, Sam smiles gently. Out of habit, she picks up a throw to cover her with, but right before she does she's struck by thought. She stops and turns to Janet.

"Would you like to tuck your daughter in?"

Date: 2006-04-10 06:21 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile]
"I'm happy to hear that," she says softly, and she is. She finally gets to make sure that Cassie is doing alright...gets to see for herself and make sure Cassie stays happy here.

And Janet, finally being able to be with her daughter again.

So she gives Sam a nod of thanks and a small smile. Even back at home, Janet fell out of the habit of tucking Cassie in as she got older.

But she has the chance she does.
